Sumario:This paper analyzes effects of neoliberal policies towards in the ejido land market. The case of Ejido Cubilete, Sinaloa was studied from 1993 to 2019, focusing on three aspects: 1) reasons for sale, 2) irregularities during sales, and 3) conditions of the ejidatarios after the sale. Information gathering tools include a) the literature review, 2) a focus group, 3) survey of the ejidatarios who sold their land, and 4) interview with key informants. In Cubilete, it was found that in 26 years, 43 % of the ejidatarios sold all or part of their land, representing 23 % (744 hectares) of the total area. There was no massive sale of agricultural land, but there is still no legal security in the possession of the land, which allows abusive, illegal and fraudulent sales that affect the sellers and buyers. The legalization of land sales in 1992 has had various effects on the ejidos, such as promoting the privatization of social property and the formation of a new kind of latifundium (neolatifundios).
