Summary:Te purpose of this researchis to develop a methodological process for sustainable tourism projects throughcommunity-based social innovationand community analysis of comparableexperiences. It is proposed to reflect on thesocio-political processes of transformationwith the community and at the same timepromote sustainable practices aimed atcommunity appropriation of the project. Temethodological process seeks to combinesocial innovation and sovereign development,considering evolutionary ecotourism modelsand Elinor Ostrom’s theory of collectiveaction. Although social innovation is key, it isrecognized that it does not ensure sustainabilityin contexts of poverty. Te proposal supportsthe Sustainable Development Goals bystrengthening resilient communities.
