Descripción
Sumario:Suspended and bed load sediment transport were computed at several stations in the Altata-Ensenada del Pabellon lagoon system, Mexico. Sediment concentration profiles were computed by integration of the time average convection-diffusion equation. The field and laboratory work included measurements of physical and sedimentary parameters. The information was used as input for a computer model developed by Van Rijn (1990). The results indicate in most vertical profiles an increase of sediment concentration with depth. The highest suspended sediment transport (0.012 Kg/s m2) was found near the mouth of Culiacan River and the highest bed load transport rate (0.0012 kg/s m2) was found near the inlet. The suspended sediment flux was almost uniform in the upper water layers but increased sharply in a 0.30 m layer near the bottom.
