Sumario:The history of development of winter wheat cultivation in fiveirrigation districts in northwestern Mexico is analyzed. The acceleratedgrowth of winter wheat yields in northwestern Mexicocan be described by adjustment of the parameters of the logisticmodel. A common variation in the analyzed series exists, whichis determined by the positive tendency of the series, a productof the Green Revolution. This event explains 80% of the observedvariation. Nevertheless, social and economic conditions,and regional geography, suggest differential development. Fouragricultural developments are defined: Borders (Mexicali-SanLuis-Río Colorado), Indigenous Agriculture (Ejidales ColoniasYaquis), Private Agriculture (Valle del Yaqui and Mayo), andPioneers (Valle de Santo Domingo in Baja California Sur). Thedevelopment of each group is compared with the national efficiencycurve. The purpose is to compare wheat yields in themain irrigated valleys of northwestern Mexico during the GreenRevolution and the following stabilization, based on social andhistoric events. The possibility of increasing productivity as afunction of the historic maximum reached at regional and nationallevels is discussed.
