Sumario:The aim of this paper is to analyze the outlook for the rights of media audience in Mexico. The different conceptions about the media audiences as an object of study of communication are discussed; it is also outlined the struggle for the rights of media audiences since the political reform of 1977 and finally, the scope and limitations of such rights and mechanisms for protection under the Federal Telecommunications and Broadcasting Act (2014) are discussed.
