Descripción
Sumario:In his work the author notes that one of the major problems facing the democratic system in Mexico is the alarming discredit generated by the electoral authorities on their citizens. From the population’s perspective, there are elements that suggest increasingly close ties and links between the electoral authorities and political parties. This perception takes place within an environment in which politics is regarded as a rapidly spreading disease that infects everything it comes in contact with, with a great deal of mistrust. At the same time, electoral authorities themselves have created some confusion regarding their role given some previous ambiguous rulings. It is unclear whether they are guarantors of the constitution and the law, or act in the interest of the political elite.
