Descripción
Sumario:China’s foreign policy, based on the discourse on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), reflects its vision of globalization and China’s role in it. This initiative represents an opportunity for China to spread its own vision of globalization without challenging the prevailing global consensus. The BRI has gone global through the Chinese president’s speeches and international communication channels. This discourse has contributed to creating an international narrative of China as a peaceful and responsible power, seeking cooperation and mutual development. The objective of this article is to identify the evolution of the BRI as a global initiative. To do this, the discourse analysis methodology will be applied to identify the issues that are important for China such as the infrastructure, connectivity, energy, trade agenda, among others, and the strategies that have been adopted to achieve the objectives of the BRI.
