| Summary: | The article reviews the different interpretations about the meaning of the principle of division of powers, highlighting its legitimizing power for the architecture of modern states. Likewise, sets out the principle of the separation of powers as a normative framework for the development of contemporary democracies. It also confronts the principle of the division of powers with the growth and complexity of the functions carried out by the contemporary State, in particularly with the incorporation of autonomous bodies into constitutional life. It is intented to show that the current debate of the principle of division of powers has not concluded due to political, economic and social changes of the last years is still relevant. |
