| Sumario: | The Libro de medicinas, muy seguro.... (1751) is an unpublished source of great importance for our knowledge of traditional Yucatec medicine, both because of its early date as well as the fact that it reflects a synthesis between purely indigenous remedies and those of European origin. It allows us to establish interesting points of comparison with other medicinal sources from Yucatan: El libro del Judío; the Books of Chilam Balam of Chan Cah, Na, Kaua, Ixil, etc., as well as some pages of the Ritual de los Bacabes, reflecting both similarities and divergences. |
