| Resumo: | Introduction. Suicide is the mental healthproblem that has received the most attentionworldwide. This problem, most prevalent inadolescents and young adults between the agesof 15 and 25, affects individuals, families, andsocieties. Therefore, it is necessary for nursing, asa profession in constant interaction with society, toperform innovative interventions that improve thepopulation’s quality of life. Objective. To composecare plans with interventions based on scientificevidence and directed to the timely preventionand detection of suicide risk in adolescents andyoung adults in the first and second levels of care.Materials and methodology. 1. Study the literaturein order to identify health problems in adolescentsand young adults in Mexico. 2. Construct the nursingdiagnosis. 3. Establish nursing interventions basedon scientific evidence. 4. Establish expected results.Thematic content. A plan of care was elaborated withthe main diagnostic nursing tags—chronic low self-esteem, suicide risk, dysfunctional family processes,and insomnia—along with their respectiveinterventions and results. Discussion. Similaritieswere found with Serrano, who establishes a seriesof actions that the nursing staff must perform suchas emotional support, improvement of self-esteem,and suicide self-control as a response to the suiciderisk diagnosis. Conclusions. Before a situationinvolving a risk of suicide, it is necessary for nursingprofessionals to detect risk factors and implementinterventions with the goal of reducing the incidenceof morbidity and mortality in adolescents and youngadults. |
