Sumario:In this article, we analyze the main characteristics of Haitian immigrants and Dominicans of Haitian descent (Dominican-Haitians) in the Dominican Republic. We examine some of the changes and continuities in the profile of Haitian immigrants in this country and highlight the sociodemographic differences between the two groups. The data suggest that a significant part of the population of Haitian origin is likely to reside in the Dominican Republic for relatively long periods, which would entail implications for the future of this migration, particularly the nature of the ties between the Haitian diaspora in the Dominican Republic and the non-migrant population of Haiti, and, more broadly, for relations between the two countries involved.
