Resumo:The administration of the company is a key element of the partnership contract. By means of contractual terms, laws, and doctrine, this paper analyzes the way administration develops in a historical period which has a special significance: the evolution from the legal culture of the so called ius mercatorum towards the codifying, liberal regime of Commercial Law. The most characteristic one is the collective management, qualified with different contractual clauses restricted to the managing power, and subdivided into three different forms: disjunctive, joint, and shared. In the 18th and 19th century Seville the individual management system enjoyed great reputation regardless of the corporate type. The co-administration, introduced by the Commercial Code of 1829, is not reflected in the Sevillian trade practice.
