Descripción
Sumario:This article intends to define the forms that the symbolic construction of authority assumed in the process of creation of the ruling elites, as well as the relationships that could have existed between the exercise of political and religious power, the construction of monumental sites, and landscape symbolism associated with a cosmological scheme derived from mythology. In the case study of the Trincheras Tradition of the Sonoran desert religious symbolism of hills, linked to rain and abundant crops petition rituals is emphasized. This must have been an essential ritual function of the hill sites that are found in the dry environment of the Sonoran desert.
