Sumario:The main topic of this article is the diffusion of Latin American and Caribbean visual arts in Cuba through a sample of major serial publications in the period between 1990 and 2011, namely: Artecubano, Arte por Excelencias, Arte Sur, Casa de las Américas and Anales del Caribe. The author’s aim is to assess what type of information about visual arts in Latin America and the Caribbean is spread by the major Cuban publications; to identify the main critics who have contributed to this diffusion and to the understanding of such a large and diverse phenomenon which is at the same time essential for the art specialists of the region. The diffusing channels, the nature of the information and the critical voices involved have been carefully characterized and evaluated. The author concludes that the diffusion of Latin American and Caribbean visual arts through the analyzed Cuban publications during the years 1990-2011 has been enriched in comparison with the previous periods, it keeps up with the current affairs, and reflects a high level plurality of themes and approaches to the contemporary art scene of the region.
