Descrição
Resumo:Bone graft for reconstruction in the maxillofacial region is the most common procedure in clinic for filling bone defects. Several kinds of bone graft exist such as autograft, allograft and xenograft. This study describes autogenous bone graft to be the best material for reconstruction due to the nature, biology quality, such as basic biologic mechanism in the formation of new bone. This paper mentions the principal applications of the autogenous graft in the oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service at the “Hospital General de Atizapán de Zaragoza, Estado de Mexico”. Some cases are shown with maxillary and mandibular bone defects resulting from benign neoplasm’s, maxillofacial trauma, bone infections and congenital malformations; that have been reconstructed with particulate cortico-cancellous bone from anterior iliac crest, rib graft and tibia autogenous cancellous bone.
