Descripción
Sumario:The aim of this study was to analyze the presence of differential item functioning (DIF) for the gender in the CES-D in a sample of adolescents. The evaluation was carried out with 1011 Mexican adolescents, aged 11 to 21 years, 486 women and 525 men, students from public junior high and high schools of the state of Veracruz, México, families belonging to a low and a half socioeconomic status. The analysis was performed using DIF methods Mantel-Haenszel (Thayer and Holland, 1988) and Logistic Regression (Swaminathan and Rogers, 1990) in their iterative versions. The correlation between the methods was calculated and identified eight of the total of twenty items with both methods with significant presence of DIF. The results suggest a revision of the CES-D in terms of gender, the presence of hifh ratings on depression in women is discussed.
