Descripción
Sumario:Automatic or semi-automatic hieroglyph retrieval has been a topic of multidisciplinary interest, where areas like computer vision, pattern recognition and humanities (archeology, anthropology, sociology, etc.) colaborate to facilitate and support the manual search of hieroglyphs from printed catalogs. For this task, hieroglyphs must be represented according their visual content. In the literature, the most sucessful hieroglyph representations for retrieval have been built following the BoVW (Bag of Visual Words) model. In this PhD. research, a new hieroglyph representation is proposed. This hieroglyph representation results from introducing some modi_cations into the stages of the BoVW model. Acccording to our experiments, the proposed hieroglyph representation allows obtaining better retrieval results than those results obtained by the most sucessful hieroglyph representations of the state of the art.
