Descripción
Sumario:In the present paper, the main contributions and paradoxes in the understanding of the processes of cohesion and disintegration (or disarticulation) of modern societies are addressed. To do this, the theoretical proposals of Emile Durkheim on social differentiation, Niklas Luhmann's on systems and, finally, Pierre Bourdieu's files theory are addressed. Taken together, these perspectives offer tools to identify processes of social differentiation, whether organic, functional or based on fields, as well as the elements that fragment modern societies. Eventually, these perspectives can contribute to the understanding of the processes of social disintegration.
