| Sumario: | The natural plant communities in the Sierra de Catorce, located in the northern part of San Luis Potosí, have a low diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) species. The objective of this research was to document the richness of AMF present in the rosetophyll scrub in the Sierra de Catorce. Three sampling periods were involved; in each of them a 1 km transect was delimited where soil samples were taken every 200 m. The abundance of spores and the richness of AMF species were evaluated in each period. A total of 20 AMF species were recorded. The abundance of AMF spores varied significantly between sampling seasons. The highest number of spores belonged to the dry season, while the cold season presented the highest AMF richness. This research is the first to report AMF species richness in the rosetophyll scrub in the Sierra de Catorce, San Luis Potosí. |
