Sumario:In this article we have gathered various texts by the philosopher and theologian Ignacio Ellacuría, emphasizing his idea of peace, and how in this, the idea of care is also important. In the writing, we emphasize two central aspects of his work, the foundation and the historicization, showing the necessary harmonization between theory and praxis that characterized his works and his life. In particular, we have selected texts from the last decade of his life (1979-1989), written from El Salvador, wanting to reveal how the proposed definition makes sense in the context of violence that this country lives, product of structural inequality and of war, but, on the other hand, conversing with the philosophy of his teacher, Xavier Zubiri, to delve into the necessary and radical presence of care in human life. Beyond this, to theoretically understand the relevance of concepts as generators of possibilities and capacities for the humanization of the human being, the text shows the importance for Ellacuría of taking this step with the conviction that there must also be concrete actions that make it possible to its effective realization in a certain present and place. To do this, it generates universal minimums for a dignified and balanced life that we also present as a proposal, we refer to the Civilization of Poverty.
