Sumario:Obstructive sleep apnea is the most prevalent sleep respiratory disorder in the world. Its incidence has been increasing because of the growing problem of obesity. Currently, it is underdiagnosed in the medical field by a low clinical suspicion and ignorance of an adequate diagnostic approach. The objective of this review is to provide the tools to recognize the risk factors and the pathology clinical picture to treat patients in a timely manner. This will save costs to the health system and the patient, in addition to avoiding long-term cardiovascular complications if not treated.
