Sumario:With the intention to draw some more general conclusions, the articlecarries out an inquiry into the use of paradoxical narration and constructionof the fantastic in some short stories of Julio Cortázar. After clarifyingthe concept of paradoxical narration and modelling its different forms, itis given a definition of the fantastic by reason of a modified version of TzvetanTodorov’s theory of the fantastic in literature. From the inquiry it turnsout that in some short stories of Cortázar we can find an interrelation betweenthe use of paradoxical narration and the construction of the fantasticwithout being a prerequisite for the practice of both.
