The objective is to understand the mechanisms of residential anchoring, as well as the socio-spatial recompositions that these imply. Through the analysis of census data and exploratory surveys, emphasis is placed on the articulation of places and the variety of experiences of the inhabitants, rendering obsolete the unique approaches in terms of systematic relegation-consolidation, or fragmentation.En la metrópoli de México, como en otras partes, la movilidad residencial intraurbana es un motor importante de la reconfiguración de la división socioespacial. En las colonias populares la pobreza es predominante; sin embargo, esta característica resulta insuficiente para explicar dichos espacios. El objetivo del artículo es comprender los mecanismos de los anclajes residenciales, así como las recomposiciones socioespaciales que éstos implican.
