Mexico has two major tectonic areas in which the production of electricity from geothermatl sources may become of economic relevance to the country: the Mexican Volcanic Belt (also called Trans-Mexican Neo-volcanic Axis) and the Gulf of California (Alvarez, 1976).El presente número de Geofísica Internacional está destinado a Los Humeros Caldera, un joven. estructura volcánica ubicada en el centro-este de México. La motivación para estudiar el área surgió de su potencial como fuente geotérmica. Los resultados y análisis presentados en este documento abarcan datos sísmicos, de gravedad, magnéticos, telúricos, de potencial propio y de temperatura superficial. México tiene dos grandes áreas tectónicas en las que la producción de electricidad a partir de fuentes geotérmicas puede ser de relevancia económica para el país: la Faja Volcánica Mexicana (también llamada Eje Neovolcánico Transmexicano) y el Golfo de California (Álvarez, 1976).Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
