| Resumo: | Cactus waste represents an abundant source of biomass that can be used to production of biofuels and bio-fertilizers on a large scale. In this work, the design criteria and conceptual design of an anaerobic digestion plant from cactus waste to generate 1 MWh/year with 80% of efficiently in the biogas production. The designing of the biogas plant was performed using Biodigestor-Pro version 3.5 software (AquaLimpia Constructores, Germany) (Moncayo, 2013). The following design criteria were taken into account for development conceptual design: site characteristics, characteristics of the biomass treated, type and layout of the treatment, quantity and quality of biogas, among others. Based on these criteria, the major components of the anaerobic process were sized: storage area and pretreatment of biomass, feed tank, biodigester, drying bed, others. This program was made possible sizing and designing a full-scale system to produce biogas from cactus with a theoretical efficiency in the process of 78.26% and CH4 content biogas from 75.92% at operating temperature of 35 °C. |
