| Sumario: | This article discusses certain aspects of the contrasting literary career of two writers, one of them probably the most successful and the other among the least mentioned in Mexico’s literary field. From the beginning, Carlos Fuentes and Pablo Palomino had trajectories with many features in common: they belonged to the same cultural group, called the Basfumistas, they were part of the same writers's generation and published their first novel with a difference of three years: Autopsia (1955) and La región más transparente (1958). We present here some of the issues and techniques used in the first story in order to observe the various features they have in common, such as the so called stream of consciousness employed by James Joyce in Ulysses. |
