Description
Summary:Using an genetic and regional geomorphological approach and using the methods of morphostructural analysis in established the reliefs regionalization of the oceanic–continental interplate marginal transitional suture zone Cocos–North America, divided into territorial units (macroblocks, mesoblocks, blocks), morphostructural alignments (first, second and third rank) and morphostructural knots. As a first result, the territory of Sierra Madre del Sur has nine macrounits: Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero occidental, Guerrero oriental, Oaxaca occidental, Oaxaca oriental, Tehuantepec and Chiapas. The geologo–gcomorphological correlative study revealed the longitudinal character of the northern units (Jalisco to Guerrero occidental) and the ratational outline of the central part (Oaxaca occidental and Oaxaca oriental), as well as the transversal transpresive model of Tehuantepec and longitudinal of Chiapas, to the South, just in the interplate triple joint Cocos–North America, under the subductive geotectonic mechanism and the left–flatted lateral movement deformations of the Caribe–Borth America interplate suture zone.
