| Sumario: | The present investigation was carried out with the purpose of evaluating the population of crocodylus acutus and its relationship with the human communities in the estuaries of the municipality of San Blas, Nayarit. During the years 2005 to 2009 the population dynamics and ecology of the crocodile were described, it was determined the sex of the crocodiles with three techniques, and the sociocultural appreciation of the crocodile for the community was described. To know the population ecology of the crocodile, samplings were carried out in the months of June 2005 and February 2006 (low water), as well as in October 2005 and October 2007 (rains). The method used was to make night trips in the estuaries, counting individuals per kilometer. Six transects were carried out covering a total of 89 km, of estuary channels and coastal lagoons in an area of 16,130 ha. |
