Sumario:The book is part of an already long collection in this International Geophysics Series. Its author, Professor R. Meissner, from the Institute of Geophysics of the University of Kiel, Federal Germany, has contributed (apart from other topics) for about twenty years to the study of the earth's crust. In addition, he has recently collaborated in the direction of research on the interior of the earth; for example, he participates in the studies of the International Lithosphere Program, through the Working Group on the structure, physical properties, composition and dynamics of the lithosphere-asthenosphere system.+
