Sumario:Due to the proximity of the first centenary of the Mexican Revolution is inevitable to watch back and summarize; the retrospective analyses are unavoidable, those that include the artistic expressions that have taken place around the Revolution, and those that weighs the ideals, the conquests and the sequels of one of the great social movements of century XX. The narrative reflected the changes experienced in the Mexican society during the last century: the country life succumbed gradually while new customs propagated, the urban surroundings and the modernization consolidated like new paradigms; and in the literary expression one unfolded in a voice, perspective range and style, between which he appears parody, style developed by Jorge Ibargüengoitia. In the first chapter, From the epic to parody, the development of the novel of the Mexican Revolution in century XX appears briefly, the period and the literary tendencies are identified that predominated when the novel was published the August lightning, and one is included biographical sketch of Jorge Ibargüengoitia. In chapter two, The revolutionary scope, the characteristics of the novel of the Mexican Revolution are identified that were in August lightning, is located the historical context in which this novel is developed and a synthesis appears. The third chapter, The irony like artifice, contains the analysis of lightning of August of Jorge Ibargüengoitia, in whom the characteristics of parody and the fragment irony selected of the novel are identified; also the forms, shades and functions of the irony, and the playersare exemplified that in her take part. The results of the analysis appear in the conclusions of the test under the title Beyond the text.
