Sumario:This paper describes different behaviors regarding mother-infant health among women of a group of wage workers in the city of Tijuana, on the Mexico-US border. We analize the particular case of women who make use of social security health services at imss (Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social), distinguishing them according to wether they work or not within the formal labor market, and to the level of handling by those who work in industry, services or commerce. The study is based on data from the survey "Women Social Conditions and Reproductive Health in Tijuana", which is part of a research project named likewise. It is a post-partum survey applied to all the 2 595 women attended to imss gineco-obstetrics hospital in Tijuana during the spring of 1993.
