| Sumario: | Women have been historically in charge of family reproduction. However, this work has been undervalued and even considered demeaning. The aim of this paper is to discuss the main feminist contributions of the twentieth and twenty-first century to women's productive and reproductive work. A documentary review on feminism, feminist economics, sexual division of labor and maternity was carried out to argue how patriarchy has relegated women to the private sphere, requiring them to reproduce the household and hindering their personal and professional fulfillment on an equal footing with men. Feminism has made visible, among other situations, the double working day of working mothers and the importance of reproductive work. It has also pointed out the need for men, the State and companies to take responsibility for the domestic and care work that makes possible the functioning of the economic system as we know it. |
