| Sumario: | In the midst of the year 1885, Vicente Riva Palacio began to publish his stories with some regularity in different national and Spanish newspapers. At the end of 1896, the only short story book of his literary career came to light, entitled Cuentos del General, which compiles the short stories written for little more than a decade. Among his collaborations in the press, two Mexican newspapers stand out: La Época Ilustrada, in which he published a small number of texts, only three, which constitute a very particular facet of his writing; and El Siglo Diez y Nueve, in which, around the same time, he contributed with six stories. The texts published in these two newspapers were included in the volume of short stories with substantial variations. In this article, I will be analyzing Riva Palacio’s participation in these two newspapers, in order to show the role and value of the hemerographic revision in the work of this author as one of the most relevant stages of critical editing: the recensio of the journalistic testimonials. |
