| Sumario: | The aim of this research was to analyze the motives of use of hypnotherapy and the characteristics of the users in a clinic located in Guadalajara, Jalisco, 426 clinical records from Ericksonian hypnotherapy users were included, that were elaborated by two hypnotherapists, in a private clinic, during period 2018-2019. Twenty-one motives of use of hypnotherapy were identified. Among the first five reasons for consultation, anxiety, self-efficacy and self-esteem, addictions, fears/phobias and depression were located. The motives of use were different for men and women. For men, the first motive was addiction, while for women it was anxiety. The analysis by group of age showed that, for children, the motive of consultation was behavioral issues, for teenagers was school performance, for adults, mental health issues associated to productive life, and for older adults, mental health issues linked to medical aspects. The generalized linear model identified a significant age effect, in which there was a clear tendency in progression of therapeutic goals from simple to demanding, as age advances. It suggests that the need of psychological attention is linked to demands of the life cycle issues. |
