| Sumario: | This paper reports the synthesis and characterization of two novel modified ?-monomers of peptide nucleic acid containing thymine and cytosine nucleobases. These novel monomers have been synthesized by the incorporation of thiol moiety in the side chain of peptide nucleic acid backbone. These novel ?-monomers have been identified with different spectroscopic techniques, notably infra-red spectroscopy, 1 H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, supported by mass spectrometry. |
