| Sumario: | There is concern in educational centers regarding coexistence, disciplineand bullying. This paper presents a study –carried out in the autonomouscommunity of La Rioja– on the link between the above topics. The data wasacquired through a questionnaire administered to 348 students in secondaryschools; semi-structured interviews with 30 educational professionals, alongwith four focus groups whose participants were students and their familymembers. The results show a low percentage of bullying among students fromLa Rioja along with the use of disciplinary measures to address any problemsof coexistence, despite the teaching staff giving priority to dialogue and interpersonalrelationships. Finally, an alternative is proposed by way of the implementationof classroom methodologies based on cooperative learning, theincorporation of social-skills programs, mediation and conflict resolution. |
