Description
Summary:The aim of this paper is to present the results of an exploratory study on the forms of child labor in agriculture and their relationship with the settled and pendulum and circular migrant conditions in three of the main agricultural fields of the state of Sonora, in order to contribute, through quantitative and qualitative research, to the characterization of child farm labor. Child labor in agriculture is an economic and social phenomenon that acquires new features in the face of the growing residential settlement processes of day laborer families compared to those who continue to be recorded in pendulum and circular movements. It is concluded that, in spite of government efforts in Sonora, the employment of child labor in agriculture persists. However, progress has been made in regulating the forms of incorporation in accordance with established legislation, which, together with the increase in settlements and family arrangements of pendulum and circular migrants for staying longer periods in regions of attraction, favors a decrease in child farm laborers and improves their working conditions.
