Sumario:Objective: To compare the quality of the Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BCPR) skills on adults according to the level of fidelity of the medical simulation.   Method: An experimental pilot study was conducted on 21 students in their 3rd year of Medical School (MD degree), who were selected and divided randomly into groups of High and Low Fidelity of Simulation (HFS and LES). The study excluded those who already had advanced theoretical-practical training and/or persons with limited abilities. All the volunteers were given: a theoretical multimedia of BCPR (90 minutes), 2 video recorded evaluations (initial and final: post-training with the same scenario) for 5 minutes of medium fidelity (ME) with MegaCode Kelly of Laerdal@. They were given individual HFS and LES training (SimMan 3G Essential de Laerdale with setting and Torso de CPR PRESTAN' without setting), performing the same training sequences for 10 minutes. A 14:26 minutes video was then played that showed the training sequences to both groups.   Results: In the mean scores of the evaluations of overall BCPR skils, LES obtained 6.7 and HFS 6.27 in the initial evaluation, and LFS obtained 8.3 and HFS 9.73 in the final evaluation. There was a significant difference between the scores (P:.002é, using the unpaired two tailed Man-Whitney U Test.   Conclusions: To implement high fidelity medical simulation with undergraduate students has a favorable impact on the acquisition of BCPR abilities.
