description The objective of this article is the study of the traditional music that flowered during the colonial period in the interior of the great cultural region located between the states of Michoacan and Guerrero on the shores of the Balsas River in the deserts. In this region, the majority of the land fell within the boundaries of the haciendas, or country estates, of Huacana and Zacatula. The area was isolated and the population was scarce, with ranching being the primary form of activity of the African slaves, indigenous people and those of mixed bloodlines. The interethnic relationships were framed by the relationship of the owner of the hacienda with his peons. In this context the fiesta represented a microcosmic social interaction, where the distinctions between Europeans, Africans, Chinese and indigenous people were interrelated in a new form of communication, and those who knew how to play music, dance and sing were essential to the fiesta.

En esta región, donde la tierra se concentró en pocas manos, destacaron por su extensión las haciendas de La Huacana y Zacatula. En ellas las vías de comunicación fueron escasas, al igual que la población. La actividad ganadera fue el modo de vida del que participó la mayoría: indios y esclavos negros, mestizos y castas. Las relaciones interétnicas estuvieron cruzadas por relaciones de compadrazgo que marcaron el dominio del hacendado respecto a sus peones. En ese contexto la fiesta representó un microcosmos social recompuesto, donde las distinciones entre blancos, negros, indios y chinos, fueron sujetas a una nueva valoración: el saber tocar, bailar, cantar y versificar fue fundamental para hacerse de lugar en la fiesta.Cet article a comme but d'étudier le lyrique traditionnel qui s'est développée pendant la période coloniale à l'intérieur d'une large région culturale placée entre les actuels états du Michoacan et Guerrero, dans la "Tierra Caliente" (Terre Chaude), au bord du fleuve Balsas. Dans cette région, où la terre appartenait à peu de personnes, les haciendas de La Huacana et Zacatula étaient signalées par leur longueur. Dans ces haciendas, les moyens de communications étaient peu abondants et ainsi que sa population. L'activité de l'élevage a été le mode de vie de la majorité de personnes, c'est-à-dire, des indigènes et des esclaves noirs; des métis et de castes. Les relations interethniques ont été croisées par des relations de compérage qui ont marqué la domination du propriétaire par rapport aux ouvriers agricoles.
