Descripción
Sumario:Cardiovascular disease is the leading health problem worldwide and coronary artery disease (CAD) or ischemic heart disease are the second leading cause of death worldwide. Previous studies have found the involvement of uncoupling protein (UCP`s) in the development of risk factors for CAD, such as: dyslipidemia, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and which are increased by the consumption of snuff and alcoholism. UCP`s involved in the uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation, ATP synthesis regulating and generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS), due to an increase in the oxidation of fuel (lipids or carbohydrates). For his part in the metabolism and ROS generation is important to study polymorphisms and expression of UCP's, and that might be associated with the risk factors and promote greater incidence of EAC. 157 subjects were studied in the " Ignacio Chávez " National Cardiology Institute where 101 were patients with CAD undergoing coronary of revasculation surgery (CAD group) and 56 were patients undergoing valve replacement surgery (control group). In both groups the four polymorphisms UCP's (-3826 UCP1, -866 and A55V UCP2, -55 UCP3), and mRNA expression of UCP1, 2 and 3 were examined. GG genotype of the -3826 A / G showed a decrease of UCP1 mRNA expression of UCP1. The AA genotype of -866 G / A of the UCP2 presented increased mRNA expression of UCP2. The TT genotype of A55V C / T of the present UCP2 increased mRNA expression of UCP2. The CC genotype of -55 C / T of the present UCP3 decreased mRNA expression of the UCP3. No association of four polymorphism studied with development of coronary artery disease was found.
