| Sumario: | Existe una contradicción en torno a la creciente inmigración indocumentadaen los Estados Unidos de América en general, y en la propia de Dixie, en loparticular, el nuevo Sur de la Alabama rural. Por un lado, los estadounidensesdeseamos una frontera impermeable pero, por otra parte, ejercemos unaprogresiva dependencia de la fuerza laboral migrante. El estudio de caso delpresente artículo deja de manifiesto que la política migratoria norteamiericanano funciona, pues ni sirve a los intereses de los ciudadanos norteamericanos,ni a los patrones estadounidenses, quienes cuentan con una fuerza laboral delos inmigrantes en una economía más global. Por lo tanto, ¿cómo podemosevitar esta problemática, y a la vez crear historias de inmigrantes exitosos,cumpliendo con el respeto de las leyes inmigratorias y laborales y la integridadde nuestras fronteras? Tres principios básicos, habrán de estimarse en laresolución del problema planteado: que el hambre es más fuerte que el miedo;manejar, sí; mano dura, no; y, que solo debemos tener miedo, del miedo mismo. There is a contradiction about the increasing undocumented immigration inthe United States of America in general, and specially own Dixie, the newSouth of rural Alabama. First, the Americans we wished an impermeable borderbut, and second, we have a progressive dependency of the migrante laborforce. The case of study of the present article informs that the Americanmigratory policy does not work, because it not serves to the North Americansinterests. Therefore, how we can avoid this problematic one, and simultaneouslycreate histories of successful immigrants, fulfilling the respect of theimmigratory and labor laws and the integrity of our borders? Three basicprinciples will have to be considered in the resolution of the created problem:that the hunger is stronger than the fear; to handle, yes; hard hand, no; and,that single we must be scared, of the same fear. |
