| Resumo: | In this essay, texts —more than material objects— represent a dialectical game between black and white spaces; it is possible to read beyond words and sentences, to understand mainly meanings and experiences. Likewise, the documents herein studied represent customs and expressions of individuals and communities which give sense to an era. In perspective, the evaluation of the links between people and written materials from the past opens a door to many possibilities. In this essay we study just one of them. All the tensions readers experienced from eighteenth century documents in Zacatecas are leading lines of this essay, so that we can be aware of the endurance of some of the customs described or the transformations they suffered throughout time. |
