Sumario:In the waste mine dam of Santa Julia, in Pachuca, hidalgo, urban facilities were built, among them, green areas where vegetation growth is hindered, so that the soil is exposed and removed by wind, the toxic dust harms any living being. In this sense, a factorial experiment was carried out, a physical and chemical characterization of mining wastes was performed and a mixture of these wastes with concentrations of organic fertilizer and vermicomposting, were analyzed, with and without vegetation, to determine what kind of improvement soil is the most apt to develop vegetation. The results indicate that the texture does not change. As for the official Mexican standard NOM-021-RECNAT-2000, for soils, the pH shows slight variations, but in all mixtures it is slightly alkaline. Organic matter increase with improvements and more with presence of vegetation. For macro elements, inorganic N, P, K, and Na, extractable, increase with improvements and more with the vegetation, Mg was not detected in any sample, the microelements, Cl, Cu, Fe and Mn, are at normal levels in all mixtures, Mo was not detected and Zn present toxic levels. For heavy metals, according to NOM-147-SEMARNAT/SSA1-2004 for contaminated soils, Ni, Ag, and Al, were detected in normal amounts, Pb and Hg, were detected in high amounts, wich means toxicity. Pb shows slight drops in samples with vegetation, possibly due to its assimilation by the plants.
