Descripción
Sumario:Our objective in this paper is to present an ethnographic analysis of cultural changes taking place in the daily life of inhabitants in the municipality of Uman, an urban community on the outskirts of Merida, Yucatan, where material transformations, religious diversity, and socioeconomic dynamics all merge. In this sense, change as much as permanence of this community’s cultural practices has over the years revealed a paradoxical process, one that integrates the inhabitants of Uman into the so-called urban “modernity.”
