Sumario:It was analyzed the plant and animal metabolism role in the transformation of azinfos methyl organophosphorus insecticide (gusathion) through the microsuspension assay, using as activating systems the S10 Vicia faba fraction and the S9 enzymatic fraction of rat liver, and as street sign of genetic effect to the TA98 and TA100 strains of the bacteria Salmonella typhimurium. It was used the microsuspension assay, the incubation mix was of 1 mL, there were added crescent concentrations of the insecticide (10, 20, 40, 80 and 100 μg/μL), there were placed in a rotatory shaker in darkness during 2 h. Subsequently, it was performed the conventional procedure of plate incorporation. The results showed a greater capacity of the plant metabolism to produce mutagenicity by frameshifth evident in the TA98 strain while the animal metabolism produced mutagens by base-pair substitutions manifested in the TA100 strain. Both metabolisms were able to reduce the organophosphorus insecticide toxicity and to express mutagenicity in S. typhimurium. The enzymatic fractions were not harmful to the bacterial cells viability.
