| Sumario: | Al-MCM-41 (SiO2/Al2O3=200) materials from various Aland Si sources were synthesized. The calcined solids (823 K) werecharacterized by N2 physisorption, X-ray diffraction and surface aciditymeasurements. The sample from tetraethyl orthosilicate-Al(SO4)3had decreased surface area (836 m2/g) and pore volume (0.88 cm3/g),meanwhile the lowest amount of Al3+ incorporated into the MCM41walls was registered when SiO2-boehmite was used as precursor. Co,Mo and P (~3, ~12.5 and ~1.6 weight %, respectively) were simultaneouslyimpregnated on Al-MCM41. Surface acidity was notablyincreased after impregnation, probably by the contribution of PO43-groups deposited. After sulfiding (H2S/H2, 673 K), the oxidic impregnatedprecursor having both the best texture and the highest proportionof octahedral Mo6+ (the one supported on Al-MCM41 fromSiO2-Al(SO4)3) was ~30% more active in dibenzothiophenehydrodesulfurization (HDS) than an Al2O3-supported commercialformulation of similar Co-Mo-P loading. For the Al-MCM41-supportedcatalyst, the high HDS activity and predominant selectivity tobiphenyl suggested good Mo promotion by Co. |
