The study’s design includes the observation of the following predictive variables: formal work activity, unfavorable socioeconomic level, lack of physical activity, commute greater than 1 hour, unfavorable family context, free time greater than 28 hours per week, high level of stress, signs of anxiety, and signs of depression. The variable to predict is low academic performance. Results: The main factors predicting low academic performance are, in order of importance, formal work activity, unfavorable socioeconomic level, and high level of stress. Conclusions: Formal work activity, unfavorable socioeconomic conditions, and emotional problems lead to low academic performance in nursing students.El bajo rendimiento académico ha sido objeto dediversos estudios ya que representa un desafío quedeben atender las instituciones educativas. En laliteratura se han propuesto diversos factores que sevinculan al bajo rendimiento académico. El objetivo de este trabajo fue aplicar un algoritmo basado en lateoría de los árboles de decisión (Modelo CRT), el cualpermite conocer los principales factores que influyenen el bajo rendimiento académico, la eficiencia delmodelo y el error de predicción. Metodología. Estudio observacional, transversal,prospectivo y analítico del nivel predictivo. El diseñodel estudio incluye la observación de las siguientesvariables predictoras; Actividad laboral formal,Nivel socioeconómico desfavorable, No desarrollaractividad física, Tiempo de traslado casa-escuela > 1hora, Contexto familiar desfavorable, Tiempo libre >28 horas por semana, Alto nivel de estrés, Signos deansiedad y Signos de depresión. La variable a predecires el bajo rendimiento académico. Resultados. Los principales factores que predicen elbajo rendimiento académico en orden de importanciason; Actividad laboral formal, Nivel socioeconómicodesfavorable y Alto nivel de estrés. Conclusiones.
