Descripción
Sumario:In this text I will present the importance of the great tamale, known as zacahuil, bolim, tapataxtleo or patlache in the Huasteca, and particularly in the celebration of Carnival in Yahualica, Hidalgo. I present, as a main purpose, the way in which with the great tamale, cultural traditions of worldviews as opposed as the indigenous and the spanish are resignified without contradictions. To account for the way in which the great tamale becomes relevant, I refer to the importance of the geographical context and its relevance in the entire ritual complex of the Huasteca; I also present the historical-mythical context in which the zacahuil arises and its importance in the Huasteca culture worldview. The Yahualica Carnival, in the state of Hidalgo, allows me to realize its relevance to finally make my final comments based on my own interpretations regarding its importance in the social life of this population.
