Description
Summary:Adhesion of orthodontic appliance to dental surface is a procedure for wich surface conditioning or enamel etching with phosphoric acid is necessary, this step allows the penetration of adhesive which, in a common way, a light-cured composite resin that fixes such appliances. This cementation technique commonly used for its highly effective, has certain disadvantages among this procedure: demineralization produced on enamel as a result from the activity of the acid on it. In order to cope these disadvantages some studies have tried to find a viable alternative to these materials and techniques. Stand out for its promising results using Er: YAG laser in the surface conditioning since several authors have found that the etching pattern with this equipment is similar to obtained with phosphoric acid.
