| Sumario: | The purpose of this work is to examine the usefulness of the domestication approach applied to the study of mobile communication technologies in general and the cell phone in particular. Based on a review of the existing literature of the field, the work provides the background, the concepts related to the process of domestication and some basic assumptions of the theoretical framework. We discussed the possibilities and limitations of this approach in the study of cellular and noted the need to "purificate" the concept of domestication to enlarge the domain of analysis and include the processes of use and appropriation outside the domestic sphere. |
